George, an incredible Spirit Guide and Medicine Man.

George was an indigenous man who lived centuries ago in the lands that now constitute the Waterloo region. He crossed over many moons ago and has been observing us as humans. He has seen how heart-centred we could be when we chose to be. This has brought a balm to his own heart, as his last life’s experiences of humans had unfortunately not been filled with peace and calm even though his family and the families with whom he lived were a peaceful nation. George, as he describes himself, is a medicine man. He is extremely tall, at almost 7 feet, and, when in his traditional function, he wears a black cloak made of crow feathers carefully stitched on a bear hide. Crows, he says, are family-oriented birds. They are adapted to their environment and are very clever, always able to dream solutions, as he puts it.

And George explains: “As a Medicine Man and the caretaker of my community, I had the great responsibility of guiding my people in their daily lives in human form as well as encouraging growth of their Spirit and Soul. I was a very fair man, and I also believed in compassion and heart while being able to make the harsher decisions as needed. This was not easy for me but this is what I knew I had been born to do. In my youth, I was not the most respectful of authority and always felt that there was another way to embody the free spirit of our peoples and of our lands. When I reached adulthood, this is what I always strived to do and be.

I was well respected and lived a long life, yet not an easy one, as I had to traverse the impacts of the arrival of the white man. We did not see eye to eye, and this was very difficult. And so, when I died, I chose to be a silent witness for many years. When Lynn arrived at the centre, I was curious about her and observed her. I noted how she was with others, her heart, and her caring nature. This warmed my heart, and so, one day, as she worked in what you call the workshop, I showed myself to her. She was surprised, yet as she had always felt me there, she knew I would come when I was ready. Ever since, I have worked with her and am most present when she is there even though others can call upon me as well.

Lynn has a good sense of humour, and so do I. Therefore, I flick the lights in the room to make my presence known and do this also when I agree with what she is sharing with others. This always makes her laugh, and I see how her heart warms at the idea of me being present in her life. As Lynn never really had a strong father figure in her life, I try to be that for her even though she knows I am so much more.

I have always told Lynn that I was not bound by the physicality of the centre but that, of course, as I am in spirit form, I travel. And so, it was an honour a few summers ago when Lynn finally decided to call upon me from her home, allowing me to share even more wisdom with her. She is a light amongst you, and even though I see her being truly reluctant to write these particular words for me. However, she does, as her inner sense of duty, loyalty, and decency is strong, and she knows that, as a channeler, she is bound to the truth of the exact words we, her many spirit guides, choose to share. And thus, this is me. I welcome all who share my space and my wisdom and know that, if you are of a true heart, I may reach out and make myself
